A 10-year-old girl from Texas is being hailed as a hero after saving her little brother from choking while the two were playing on their backyard trampoline.
The siblings, Lia and Logan James, were bouncing together in their Lavon, Texas backyard when the fun suddenly turned to panic. The two were playing a daring game that involved swallowing a piece of sour candy before each bounce, but it quickly went wrong when Logan, 7, began to choke.

Video captured the shocking moment the young boy clutched his chest and gasped for air. Without hesitation, Lia rushed to his side, patting his back before performing the Heimlich maneuver. Police later said she had learned the life-saving technique from a babysitting guide and her mother.

Within seconds, the candy shot out of Logan’s throat, saving his life.
“I’m Just So Proud of Her”
Their mother, Heather James, told NBC News she was in the kitchen when the terrifying moment unfolded, said she only found out what had happened when Lia rushed in to tell her.
“It was a hard watch,” Heather said. “As much as it hurts my heart to watch, I’m just so proud of her.”

Heather, who works with the Lavon Police Department’s special programs division, said Lia had learned about choking rescue techniques through one of her safety courses.
“I’m so proud of my kid,” she said. “She knew exactly what to do.”
A Lesson Learned
Police shared the now-viral video of the rescue, praising Lia for her quick thinking and calm response under pressure.
Heather added that the terrifying incident has changed her son’s habits for good.
“He swore he will never be on the trampoline with a piece of candy again,” she said.
As for Lia, the 10-year-old’s bravery has turned her into a local hero and a powerful reminder that even children can save lives when they know what to do
