Travis Renee Baldwin, a beloved Newsmax makeup artist, was shot and killed in Arlington, Virginia and police say her son killed her; earlier that morning, according to a family source, he made a series of disturbing threats
Her son, Logan Chrisinger, 27, is now charged with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and use of a firearm during a felony. He’s being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
The shocking murder unfolded after Chrisinger allegedly FaceTimed his mother in the early hours of Sunday, threatening to kill himself and reportedly showing her a gun. She rushed to his apartment and never made it back alive.
Chilling Words Before the Shooting
According to a family source speaking with TMZ, Chrisinger not only threatened himself but also told his mother he wished she were dead. Baldwin’s brother, John, said she didn’t explain much before heading over but sensed something was wrong.

“I knew there was something going on,” he told FOX affiliate WTTG-TV.
Shortly after, police were dispatched to the apartment where they found Baldwin with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, but died from her injuries.
Police have described the case as a “domestic-related homicide,” though no official motive has been confirmed.
“She Just Did My Makeup Friday”
Baldwin’s sudden death has stunned the media community, especially those who saw her just days earlier.

Greta Van Susteren, Baldwin’s Newsmax colleague and former anchor for Fox News and CNN, delivered a heartfelt tribute:
“We are all in shock… Renee murdered? She was just here,” Van Susteren said on air. “She just did my makeup Friday,” Van Susteren said, adding that she never imagined it would be the last time she saw Baldwin.
A “Quiet Warrior” in the Studio
Baldwin wasn’t just a skilled artist, she was deeply loved behind the scenes.
Marisela Ramirez, Newsmax’s White House producer, called her a “quiet warrior” with a giving heart, while Amber Duke, now a senior editor at The Daily Caller, said Baldwin was “kind, generous, and funny.”

“She always brightened the day of anyone who sat in her chair,” Duke wrote. “She will be dearly missed.”
The Investigation Continues
Chrisinger reportedly feared losing his apartment after losing his job, according to the family source. Whether that played a role in the shooting remains unclear.
The case remains under investigation. Meanwhile, Baldwin’s loved ones, from family to newsroom colleagues, are left reeling from a tragedy that unfolded in the span of a single, devastating morning.
“Renee would do anything for her children,” a source close to the family said. “And she did — even in her final moments.”
