Taylor Swift quietly reveals mom Andrea’s “secret” surgery after years of health battles

    Published on

Taylor Swift just surprised fans with a personal family update that she’s kept private until now.

During her appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast this week, the 35-year-old superstar casually revealed that her mom, Andrea Swift, recently had knee replacement surgery. Andrea was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2020, and while Taylor has rarely spoken about her health since, this is the first surgery she has publicly mentioned.

“My mom just got a new knee — she’s doing great,” Taylor shared. “She’s scampering around… well, not quite at scampering yet — but she’s doing great.”

Travis chimed in, “She’s up and moving around,” as Taylor joked that this summer had been all about “parental upgrades” for the Swifts.

A Summer of Surgeries for the Swift Family

Taylor’s revelation came right after she opened up about her father Scott’s unexpected quintuple bypass surgery earlier this summer. It was a procedure doctors insisted happen “tomorrow” after discovering five blocked arteries.

She recalled how her dad tried to downplay the seriousness of it, only for her to ignore his protests and fly in to be at his side. “He was being the brave dad, the strong dad,” she said, before sharing that he woke up from surgery cracking jokes and even offering nurses her guitar picks.

Andrea’s Health Journey Stays Mostly Private

Andrea’s surgery news comes years after the family revealed she was battling cancer. In 2015, Taylor shared her mom’s diagnosis, later revealing in 2019 that the cancer had returned and in 2020, that doctors had found a brain tumor.

Since then, Taylor has kept details under wraps, but fans have taken Andrea’s regular presence on the Eras Tour as a good sign.

    Family First

For Taylor, making sure her parents stay healthy is non-negotiable. “I want them to live to be at least 186 years old because they’re two of my best friends and I just adore them,” she said with a smile.

From building her dad’s shower chair and walker to literally harness-walking him during recovery, Taylor spent much of the summer playing caregiver. It’s a role she says is “surreal” after a lifetime of her parents caring for her.
